Fitness Expert Offers 10 Ways to Improve Health in 2008
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 2, 2008)-With the busy, overrun lifestyles many people live these days, more and more people seem too busy and too tired to think about their own well-being. Barry Bragg, certified trainer and president of Transformation, Inc., a personal training and wellness center, believes that with the start of 2008 upon us, the time is now for people to regain their health.
"Just start, do something to make a positive change in your life," says Bragg. "Making the commitment to change is the first step to a happier and healthier you."
Bragg offers 10 ways to start living a healthy life in 2008: 1. Embrace a 'Can-Do Attitude' - Stop saying, "I'm too busy," or "I'm too tired" or "I don't have time." It's all about the priorities you set. Start saying, "I am going to make time for myself and my well-being" or "Even if I am tired, I'm going to do it anyway."
2. Schedule Time for You - We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Taking time for yourself is a must. Devoting 50 minutes a day to you is the best way to start becoming healthy. Taking 30 minutes for intense exercise and 20 minutes for relaxation and meditation is a great start.
3. Visualize Great Health and Set Reasonable Goals - See it, feel it, believe it, ask for it, act on it and receive it. Achieving a healthy body will make you more of a success in the game of life!
4. Exercise Intensely 30 Minutes Every Day - Moderate exercise is okay, but when you're pushed for time and need results, intensity is the key. For the body to physically improve, you must challenge yourself and put your body under enough physical stress for it to adapt and change.
5. Use High Performance Nutrition - Don't just cut calories. Instead, eat more living foods during the day. If you want to lose the stubborn fat, get more energy and improve your health, stop eating processed foods from fast food restaurants and convenience stores. Start eating lots of raw fruits and raw vegetables every day. Pack lots of apples, oranges and grapefruit with your lunch. Also, you can get a salad almost anywhere these days (the greener, the better).
6. Drink Lots of Pure Water - It seems ironic that nature's most abundant resource is also the one that most people don't get enough of. Sodas, lattes and sugary fruit juices are not what nature intended for the human body to run on. Even if we're drinking plenty of water, most are drinking dirty tap water. Drink premium, pure water and your body will thank you accordingly.
7. Sleep Well - With fast-paced lives and unreasonable workloads, many people suffer from lack of sleep or poor sleep at best. This is the number one way to run your immune system into the ground. Allow yourself seven to nine hours of sleep per night and you will feel rested and energized each day.
8. Relax and Meditate During the Day - We often crank through the day with very little down-time, allowing stress and frustration to mount. Instead of letting stress build, try taking 15-20 minutes to shut your eyes and focus on deep breathing (in through the nose, out through the mouth). As silly as this sounds, it will do wonders in reducing stress levels.
9. Improve Relationships with Family and Friends - When you feel tired, weak and cranky, you tend to snap at those closest to you. Positive communication helps you feel better. Spend time with those you love and who love you. In the end, this matters most in life.
10. Have Fun! - Enjoy your life! Live it to the fullest! Don't be all work and no play! Find a hobby or something that you enjoy doing for recreation.
Living a healthy lifestyle will allow you to live your best life, but it doesn't happen by accident. Be intent on loving and caring for yourself and you will experience a more fulfilling life in 2008.
